Petroglyph Games is still patching Star Wars: Empire at War 17 years after its release. The game was originally released in 2006 and the latest patch was released on November 20, 2023.

The latest patch is maintenance-related but it does make a very significant change – it shifts the game from a 32-bit executable to a 64-bit one to address out-of-memory bugs.  Other than that, it resolves a number of out-of-sync multiplayer problems and “numerous gameplay fixes addressing balance and incorrect unit behavior.”

From my point of view, it’s beyond impressive that they are still patching and updating the game to this day. Not only that, but they are also working with the community to locate and address some of the bugs in this release. Big kudos for that.

Star Wars: Empire at War is available right now on PC.
