The MIX Games and Wallride have announced that Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland is coming to PC and consoles. The biggest highlight? It’ll be coming to the NES as well! Given that the game has an 8-bit color palette that is so NES-friendly, this comes as no surprise, but it’s such an iconic move nonetheless.

Rugrats last aired in 2004 and, to this day, it’s one of my favorite cartoons, believe it or not. The decision to make it look like an NES game may be controversial from today’s perspective but since the cartoon started airing such a long time, it makes perfect sense to hit that nostalgic note for those who still have a child in them (and I am one of them).

The game is a hop-and-bop platformer with puzzle and exploration elements (or so they say). You’ll play as Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, and Lil, and you’ll combine their unique skills as you progress through six levels “throughout the Pickles’ residence.”  The game comes with co-op support, and if you don’t like staring at 8-bit visuals, you can switch to an HD hand-drawn style.

Rugrats is coming to PC and consoles in 2024. We don’t yet know which consoles will be targeted, but we know the legendary NES is one of them.
