The director behind the upcoming Splinter Cell remake is leaving Ubisoft after spending 11 years at the company.

David Griel announced his departure on Linkedin. He started his career at Ubisoft as a part of Ubisoft Paris. He worked on Ghost Recon: Future Soldier before moving to Toronto’s office and working on a number of different games like Splinter Cell Blacklist and the Far Cry series. He also worked on the Splinter Cell remake.

“After more than 11 years at Ubisoft, it is now time for me to go on a new adventure. 11 years is a long time, and summing it up in one post is quasi-impossible but I must say, I’ve been lucky. Lucky to work with so many great people over the years. Made so many friends.”

It appears that Mr. Grivel is not leaving the gaming industry as a whole though, so we will see what the future has in store for him.

It is always sad to see someone leaving the company they left a huge mark in but we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
