It’s finally here, ladies and gentlemen. We have the very first trailer for the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Movie from Nintendo and Illumination.

The world premiere trailer was shown off during a special Nintendo Direct last night, and we’ve got some exclusive information from Shigeru Miyamoto and Illumination’s Chris Meledandri on this project.

And we’ve got the trailer itself. We can see Bowser and Kamek arriving to invade a penguin kingdom. The poor fellas are no match for Bowser and his army of Koopas and he successfully claims a star. Then we get to see Chris Pratt’s Mario as he gets sucked into the Mushroom Kingdom. We also see a glimpse of Toad and even Luigi as well. I have to say, I am really hyped now! The animation looks gorgeous and I can’t wait to watch the movie when it arrives to the theatres.

The video game-movie adaptation has become very popular in recent years so seeing a Mario movie comes as no surprise. Sonic the Hedgehog has had two major motion pictures and both of them were a huge success, which paved the way for the third movie, a spinoff, and even a Netflix series. PlayStation is working on their movies as well. The Uncharted movie is out already and The Last of Us is heading to HBO soon.

This isn’t the first time our favorite plumber shows up on the huge screen, but…we better not talk about those earlier movies. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope that this one will be a blast when it comes out. So far, it looks very promising.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is coming to theaters on April 7, 2023.
