CD Projekt Red have announced yet another delay for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S upgrades for their super-popular RPG The Witcher 3:Wild Hunt.

The Polish Studio made an announcement via their official Twitter profile and here’s what they said: “We have decided to have our in-house development team conduct the remaining work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We are currently evaluating the scope of work to be done and thus have to postpone Q2 release until further notice.”

Prior to this announcement, Saber Interactive were working on the next-gen versions, which allowed CD Projekt Red to focus on Cyberpunk 2077‘s own PS5 and Xbox Series X|S upgrades (and they arrived back in February). The studio didn’t give any further detail on why it was taking them off the project and it didn’t give a new ETA for the upgrades either. Instead, they told us they would “as soon as they can”.

The upgrades were first announced back in 2020, promising performance and visual buffs. Back then, we all hoped they would arrive by 2021, but investors were warned of the delay by September of that year. The hope emerged again the next month after the PEGI ratings were published, but it was crushed yet again once the company announced the updates were officially delayed into Q2 2022 by October.

We’ll keep you updated once the new date for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is announced. Meanwhile, CD Projekt Red has confirmed that they are working on a brand new game set in The Witcher universe, so here’s another reason to be hyped.
