CD Projekt Red have announced that a new The Witcher game is being actively developed as we speak. Hell yeah!

The most intriguing fact here (apart from the fact that we are getting a new The Witcher title) is that the game won’t be using CD Projekt RED’s own engine. Instead, the Polish studio teamed up with Epic Games and they will be using Unreal Engine 5 for the new The Witcher. According to them, this is the first step in a “multi-year strategic partnership” with the company for both technical development and licensing.

CD Projekt Red also says that the partnership will allow them to closely collaborate with Epic Games developers on the project. That way, they’ll be able to use any potential future versions of the Unreal Engine as well. And together, they strive to “help tailor the engine for open-world experiences.”

We don’t have the potential release date at the moment but we do know that this new The Witcher entry will be the start of “a new saga for the franchise”. Perhaps that means that we’ll no longer follow our dear Geralt of Rivia but Ciri instead? We should find out soon enough.
