Welcome to another in the series of Download This, the spotlight on the coolest DLC and downloadable demos you can find on the Xbox 360 and other platforms. Today we're going to take a look at the latest DLC for Borderlands. The Secret Armoury of General Knoxx.
Clocking in at 800 Msp, General Knoxx is a whopping addon that is a serious must have for any Borderlands fan. Zombie Island, Mad Moxxi, these were all decent if a little short. Knoxx will take you around 11-12 hours to complete and it adds a serious amount of fun to Borderlands, including some very sought after new gear.
I'm not going to spoil the story of Knoxx for you; this is something you're going to have to play the addon for. The DLC adds 11 levels to the game and allows your chosen character to reach the dizzy heights of 61 across several large brand-new areas replete with the usual crazy side missions and wonderful mad-cap humour that typifies the Borderlands experience.
In addition to the new levels, and of course loads more skill points to push your character into even more power, there are new enemies to fight and new bosses to take down. There's the trickiest Borderlands Boss-Fight yet and just as the loading screens dictate, the boss drops some of the most sought-after gear on Pandora, yeah, this stuff is a veritable loot fest and we've done several runs on this boss so far and gained some pretty sweet gear.
Not content with offering T-Bone Junction and the other areas, Gearbox have added new weapons into the mix along with some pretty hard to find, very rare, Pearl equipment. There are also several new vehicles that can be used in the new areas, including an APC that can house 4 players, each player can man a particular seat aboard the vehicle to give it extra firepower.
The cannon is a slow-firing devastating weapon that packs one hell of a punch, it can be fired 360 degrees and cuts down bigger enemies like the Drifters fairly quickly.
The mine launcher is useful for setting traps for pesky enemies and protecting the area around the vehicle.
The blast seat activates a massive explosive force outside of the vehicle in a wide radius, this causes damage to everything in that radius and can seriously wreak havoc on your enemies.
The driver has a small mini-gun that fires to the front and controls the vehicles hefty boost.
There is also another variant of the Racer that's faster, a little harder to control but can be used to finish some of the DLC's more insane quest-related jumps in some of the areas. There is another vehicle that is a 2-seater truck with an auto-guided rocket launcher, this is a great vehicle for using against some of the more diligent enemies in the game since it lets you fire a quick rocket and keep on driving, the rocket will seek out the closest enemy and usually does a lot of damage.
The Secret Armoury of General Knoxx is some of the best DLC that has come out for the game to date, and it's a definite must-have purchase for any serious Vault Hunter out there on Pandora. From the new areas to the wealth of additional content this is the way that all DLC should be.
Great stuff and definitely replayable with multiple characters
It is also the continuation of Borderlands story and has a much better ending.
5/5, 10/10, 300/300 - you get the picture - even though we don't score DLC, this one is a KEEPER!
