Gamitopia has posted an interview with Patric Sundstrom, Marking Manager for MindArk about thier upcoming game, Project Entropia. In the interview they find out some good information about the game itself as well the company behind it. Heres a Q:
MindArk is going to try something different with Project Entropia, which is to have the game available for free download from the Internet. How does MindArk plan to have the game supported if the client software and online service is for free without any fees?
What we have done instead is to build a real economic system into Project Entropia. In practice, this means that you will be able to exchange real-life money for PED (Project Entropia Dollars), which you can use to purchase items in the game. Such items may include everything from clothes to armor, weapons to vehicles, MindForce to education etc. There will even be auctions, stock exchanges and casinos at the users' disposal in Project Entropia.
This is not a one-way system as it also allows the user to exchange PED back in to real life money.
