Capcom have announced the launch of a new MegaMan portal, which is designed to coincide with new marketing initiatives to raise the profile of the MegaMan series in Europe:

London 1 July, 2003 - Capcom Europe today unveiled a brand new portal for its longest running series, Megaman. Located at www.megaman-central.com, the site features game information, downloads and the opportunity to join the newly formed Megaman club. Club members will receive special offers, the latest Megaman news and the chance to enter exclusive competitions.

The launch of the portal is one of the first in a series of marketing initiatives that will provide high profile support for the Megaman franchise across Europe this year and coincides with the release of three new Megaman titles - Megaman Battle Network 3 (Blue & White editions) for GBA plus Megaman Network Transmission for GameCube. The launch of these titles has been further bolstered by a fresh new design for all packaging and point of sale materials. This signals a uniform look for Megaman titles regardless of format which will also feature on three further releases this year, including the first appearance on PS2 - Megaman X7.

David Miller, Capcom's Marketing Director commented: "Megaman is celebrating his 15th anniversary this year and we believe that the plans we have in place will make this his best year to date. After lengthy research, leading branding agency Wolff Olins has delivered a series of initiatives that compliment the games and will talk directly to Megaman's core audience. The redesign and Megaman portal are the first visible signs of this, but work is ongoing and I hope to announce some exciting news in the very near future."
